The University
of Maine offers a limited number of International Presidential
Scholarships in recognition of outstanding academic performance valued at
$25,000 per academic year.
Eligibility:
- Scholarships are primarily limited to first-time, degree-seeking, undergraduate foreign nationals who qualify for the F-1 or J-1 student visa. Recipients of the award will be required to maintain their status as full-time students at the University of Maine.
- Students must maintain full-time enrollment and a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 in order for the scholarship to be renewed.
Selection Criteria: Candidates are selected based on the following criteria: academic achievement, proficiency in English, extra-curricular activities, and quality of written essay. Female applicants and applicants from countries underrepresented in the University of Maine international student population are encouraged to apply.
Duration of Scholarship: maximum of 8 semesters (4 academic years) for a student entering as a first-year applicant and 6 semesters (3 academic years) for a transfer student
How to Apply: To be considered for the International Presidential Scholarship, applicants must complete a University of Maine admission application AND submit an International Presidential Scholarship Application application by February 1 each year for a fall-semester start.
